About
Meeder Financial
In 1974, the U.S.
stock market was in the worst bear market in over 40 years, with the S&P
500 losing nearly 50% of its value over a two year period.
Robert S. Meeder witnessed
how this bear market had devastated the life savings of friends.
He understood the mathematics of financial markets well enough to know
that it takes a greater return on an investment to recover fully from
a loss of value. If investors could avoid much of their exposure to down-market
loss, they could keep more of the money they made in the investment markets
and preserve the value of their portfolios.
On April 1st of that
year, Robert Meeder opened the doors of the investment management firm
that bears his name with one goal in mind – To provide investors with
investment solutions designed to manage risk and maximize return in the
financial markets.
Since 1974, Meeder
Financial has evolved into a full-service investment management organization.
Meeder began by managing small retirement plans.
Soon, the company branched out into other areas of the investment management
marketplace -- to mutual funds, institutional asset management, and retirement
plans.
Meeder Financial expanded
the scope of its investment disciplines, and developed partnerships with
other investment specialists to offer a broad range of investment services
and solutions. Today, Meeder manages $1.0 billion in assets (as of 3/31/08) among
mutual funds, retirement plans, and private investment portfolios.
Each company in the
Meeder Financial family serves a different type of investor. Each company,
however, employs the same investment disciplines and makes the same commitment
to client service that has made the Meeder name a hallmark of quality
and success.
Meeder is known in
the financial community as a tactical asset allocation specialist, a pioneer
in the field of "fund of funds" investing, and an expert in equity and
fixed income portfolio management. Meeder has earned a reputation for
the success of our investment disciplines, for the quality of our shareholder
reporting and servicing abilities, and for our commitment to becoming
a complete "client intimate" organization.
